Beautifully appointed guest accommodation; lovingly appointed; warm and homely & generous breakfast
Positive: Very comfortable room beautifully appointed, with lovely antique furniture. Bathroom was spacious. Room heating was lovely and warm. Bed was super comfy and bedding and pillows were very plush. Self serve kitchen room was very well stocked and lots of choice including some nice treats for afternoon tea too. Great location and easy level walk into town for dinner and exploring shops. Great restaurants in town; including funky cocktail bar! Parking wasn't an issue for us, and we had a large vehicle. Gardens were lovely. Communication with property was excellent and informative. Location super convenient to viewpoints and walking tracks. Golf course at Blackheath was a challenging and very scenic - played in autumn and was stunning.
Negative: Some noise from roadway

A lovely and typical old fashioned Blue Mts guest house with all mod cons.
Positive: Lovely furnishings, comfortable bed, good breakfast, very pretty garden, warm and cosy.
Negative: No actual person to deal with at the property; no comfy communal lounge where you could chat to other guests (only the breakfast room)
There was a problem with the hot water when we were there but I am sure that will be sorted soon. It would be beneficial to have an information sheet explaining “hidden” things such as the fridge and air con control.

Lovely boutique hotel
Positive: Rowan Brae is a great, small hotel. It was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. The room had all the facilities you could hope for: tea/coffee, kettle, hairdryer, iron and the bathroom was well equipped with nice toiletries. The self-service breakfast offered a range of choices to suit everyone (except those that want a full cooked breakfast served to them) and flexibility over timing so you could have breakfast when you wanted it. Our room was at the front so had a veranda outside which would have been lovely had it been a bit warmer while we were there. There was a little noise from the road/railway but not enough to disturb us (even my husband who is easily disturbed!)
Negative: We had a little trouble finding the hotel. The directions were fine but there was no sign outside (I think they may have recently redecorated the entrance to the car park) so we weren't sure quite where to go. Once a friendly neighbour pointed us in the right direction l, parking was easy. We were a little hesitant about the lack of a proper 'Reception' but found our room key and room easily and had a great stay.
